Description
holy crap granola is easy to make
Ingredients
| 2 | Cup | rolled oats (not instant) |
| 1 | Cup | toasted slivered almonds |
| 1⁄2 | Cup | toasted sunflower seeds |
| 1⁄2 | Cup | toasted cashews |
| 1⁄2 | Cup | coconut (I use sweetened but unsweetened would work fine too) |
| 1⁄4 | Cup | wheat germ (optional) |
| 1⁄2 | Cup | dried cranberries or raisins |
| 1⁄2 | Cup | chopped dried apricots (or other dried fruit of your choice) |
| 1⁄2 | Cup | honey |
| 1⁄2 | Cup | butter or cooking oil |
Instructions
mix together nuts and grains in large bowl. melt butter and honey together in a mug and mix together, pour over mixture. Stir. Spread mixture in roasting pan or cookie sheet. Cook at 300F, stirring every 10 minutes or so, for about 30 minutes or until it turns a bit golden. Put mixture back in your big bowl and stir in dried fruit.
Notes
You can really fiddle with this recipe to make something that's perfect for you, it's not like it's a souffle. Change the nuts and fruit around however you like. This is not too sweet, so it's nice with milk, but I usually put in a bit more honey and then eat it with plain yogurt. It comes out very loose, not clumpy. I think if you want it more clumpy you have to use more honey and maybe press it into a new pan halfway through.
