Description
My great aunt Orville's pecan pie recipe
Ingredients
| 3 | eggs | |
| 2⁄3 | Cup | sugar |
| 1⁄4 | Teaspoon | salt |
| 1⁄3 | Cup | unsalted butter |
| 1⁄4 | Cup | cane syrup |
| 3⁄4 | Cup | dark karo syrup |
| 2 | Cup | pecan halves |
| 1 | deep dish 9-inch pie shell, unbaked |
Instructions
Get the oven goin at 350F (175C).
Beat the eggs a little in a big bowl.
Add sugar, salt, butter, syrups and pecans. Mix it up, then pour it all into the pie shell.
Bake just under an hour, until the custard sets.
It browns real easy so watch it and cover it up with aluminum foil near the end if you have to, so it doesn't burn.
Notes
- If you can't find Karo syrup or cane syrup, you can try replacing them with the same amount of brown sugar, maple syrup, molasses, or a combination.. the cane syrup's pretty key, though!
- If you double this recipe, mix up two batches of the stuff because it's not easy to separate it evenly into two
