Description
There are so many sounds that could go with this, depending on who you are. The rasping screek of a screen door. The pubbiting vroom of a pizza delivery moped. A totalizing engulfment of cicadas. And condensation coming slowly down the glass. Get a coaster.
Ingredients
- 5 lemons
- 6 c watermelon
- 1⁄3 c sugar
- 2 1⁄3 c water
- 1 strainer
- 1 coaster
Instructions
Cut your watermelon into chunks and whiz it up in a food processor or a blender. Now mash the pulp through a strainer into a large bowl.
Squeeze the lemons and add the juice to the bowl.
Make simple syrup: 1/3 cup water, 1/3 cup sugar on the stove on medium-high for five minutes or so, until the sugar dissolves. Add this to the bowl.
Add enough extra water to taste right (I like about two cups). Stick it in the fridge.
Notes
You can serve this over ice but I like drinking it straight. You can also top it off with a little soda water.
