Description

This recipe is at least forty years old, from my aunt. It's a mainstay in my parents' house at Christmas.

Ingredients

1Cuppowdered sugar
2Tablespooncocoa powder
1Cupfinely chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans work well)
1Cupshredded or grated coconut
1⁄4Cupbourbon (or rum)
2 1⁄2Cupcrushed vanilla wafers, or about 1 tube of digestive biscuits
3Tablespoonsweetened condensed ("evaporated") milk

Instructions

the food processor is your friend here. use it to chop up/pulverize all your dry ingredients. if you don't have one, you'll have to use a knife or whatever you have to hand.

  1. mix biscuits, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, nuts and coconut
  2. add milk, booze. mix well
  3. form into appropriate sized balls
  4. roll in more powdered sugar
  5. store in fridge

Notes

if the mix is too dry for the balls to hold together, add a tiny bit more booze and/or condensed milk
