what do you listen to when you cook? nothing? a record? the radio?

I'm a big fan of speech radio. Give me the Radio 4 Classic serial, gardener's question time and the food programme any day.

I listen to culturally appropriate music. I force my cooks to listen to Dr. John when we make gumbo, Louis Prima for Italian, Manu Chao for miscellany, and Johnny Cash and Charlie Daniels for the good ole' stuff.

well, it's often whatever is on tv to be honest (kitchen and living room layout is open so it's hard to avoid!). a few nights ago i had "paranoid" by kanye west in my head the entire time though. i think it was because he was on american idol.
